Family of Brit-Indian honeymooner 'very pleased' following release on 250,000 pounds bail
London, Dec 11 : Shrien Dewani, the Brit-Indian millionaire who was arrested in the UK earlier this month on suspicion of conspiring to have his wife killed in Cape Town during their honeymoon trip, has reportedly been granted 250,000 pounds bail by the High Court.
According to the BBC, the 30-year-old care home owner was driven back to his home in Bristol on Friday evening.
Dewani, who was in custody at Wandsworth Prison in south London, has been released by Justice Ouseley under conditions of electronic tagging, home curfew and having to report to the police daily.
The millionaire has denied all charges against him, and also told the court that he did not consent to being extradited to Cape Town, the report said.
Meanwhile Dewani spokesman Max Clifford said his family were "very pleased" with the decision to grant bail.
"They''re pleased also that he is able to go home and continue his trauma and bereavement counselling. He is going to be surrounded by his loved ones and his family, who will support him," he added.
Yesterday, South African national police commissioner General Bheki Cele slammed Diwani calling him a "monkey" who came all the way from London to have his wife killed in South Africa.
Earlier, three men were arrested and charged over the murder, including the couple's taxi driver, Zola Tongo, 31.
